My colleagues Christine Jacobson and Kristine Greive have just opened a fabulous exhibition called "Do It Yourself! Self-Publishing from Letterpress to Laser Jet" https://library.harvard.edu/exhibits/do-it-yourself

Creatively and expansively exploring the history of producing texts to avoid censorship and social constraint, for creative control, or for profit, I think it's a must-see for any neighborhood @bookstodon.

Do It Yourself!

This exhibition features material from the 18th century to the present day that shows why and how people self-publish.

@overholt @bookstodon This is a nice historical display.

Nice!

Does your exhibition include artist books and zines?

@srfirehorseart @bookstodon Yes! And they made a little zine-like keepsake for visitors to take of the wall panels.
@overholt @bookstodon hope to pop in to see this tomorrow
@limerickman @bookstodon If you are able to do that please let me know ASAP since we are not open on the weekends. (Sorry!)
@overholt @bookstodon lol my mistake I meant to type Thursday, for the guided tour.
@overholt @bookstodon and of course I still managed to get it wrong and like a lost time traveler showed up for a tour today that isn’t actually happening until next week.
Highly recommend it though, super interesting. Worth it to see the typed personal edition of Howl by Ginsburg and Emily Dickinsons hand written poetry.
thanks so much for your kind words John!
