I could be wrong, but it seems with the introduction of the "For You" tab, Musk has completely removed the ability to see latest Tweets first. This fits with Musk cutting off access to third party apps. Basically, anyone who is still on Twitter is now going to see only the tweets that Musk wants you to see in the order he wants you to see them. User autonomy over the timeline seems to be completely gone. I fully expect Musk will go after the block and mute functions next.
Basically, anyone remaining on Twitter from this point forward is agreeing to contribute content to or be part of the audience for a reactionary propaganda organ curated and produced by Musk and his fellow travelers on the far right. And things are only going to get worse from here.

@MadMadMadMadRN There's a "Following" tab next to "For You" that shows you latest tweets first.

You can also add people to Lists and browse only the people you choose to follow with Latest first as a default, which is how I've gradually made Twitter more tolerable.

@jonjones @MadMadMadMadRN
huh yeah now that is has finally come to Web interface I can check it out and "Following" does appear to be strictly chronological.

So all he actually did was just change the labels Home and Latest and then claim it was a new feature? Honestly, should have seen that coming

@datatitian @MadMadMadMadRN That's exactly what he did. Pathetic, isn't it?
@jonjones @MadMadMadMadRN Hilariously, Twitter now automatically switches me over to “For You” every time I visit the site, no matter how many times I switch it to “Following”.
@MadMadMadMadRN
If by "go after" you mean "put behind an $8/mo paywall…"
@DopeGhoti Yep. Musk is going to turn free Twitter into a right-wing cesspool and charge users for the privilege of having it not be. I used to think this was a crazy idea that would drive away users (particularly high follower accounts that drive most of the traffic to Twitter). But given how many prominent liberal/left/progressive figures remain on Twitter (out of inertia or for some other reason), I'm beginning to think this might work out for Musk. He can even comp the celebrities.

@DopeGhoti Musk seems to be betting that prominent, high-follower accounts (including those on the left) will stay on Twitter rather than have the courage of their convictions to leave, lose their followers, and have to start over somewhere else.

I hope he's wrong, but he may be right.

@MadMadMadMadRN not being able to mute people on twitter would be a special kind of hell
