So, this happened. After a year of waiting patiently, a chap in the UK told me I was next in line for a commission. He tends to draw things exaggerated, and I proposed to him the idea of a jackalope. A few dollars exchanged and some ideas sketched out, but here's Vernell Ray.

My two middle names smushed together and my late father's middle name.

He's a retired trucker, too fat for the open road. So he's settled into being a damn good mechanic with a hefty appetite.

Why a jackalope? I don't see too many of 'em in the furry community, plus I've been to Wall Drug out in South Dakota and my fat ass has been on the fiberglass one a time or two. (I also have a stuffed one, and his name is Caleb after one of my dearly departed friends.)

He's 6'5" or so (if you don't measure the antlers) and the only people who know his weight are at the feed store or the sale barn. He prefers to get paid for his hard work in cold beer, rather than cold hard cash.

@jerrycakes Congrats on getting your furry on! đŸ» 😊

@Preston I've been trying to get something commissioned for 2 years now. One's still a WIP, and the other seems to be ... another WIP. I've considered myself 'adjacent' only b/c I don't / can't get to cons, nor do I get to meet any other people in the flesh.

All I've wanted was a fursona. I know you don't NEED one to be a furry, but it seems to help.

Wasn't expecting him to be THAT big, though. (He might be a quarter-ton of mechanically-inclined fun)

@jerrycakes @Preston you definitely don’t need a fursuit or fursona to be in the fandom. Just an appreciation for anthro stuff and the company of others of the same mind. It took me a few years of lurking to settle on my fursona.

@bearpupzak @Preston I know. But seeing it makes it more of a reality than anything else. It's how my mind works.

@jerrycakes this turned out great! I gotta say the face has a strong resemblance to the human you. Jackalope would be a great fursuit. Anything with antlers is all the rage lately.

@bearpupzak If I had the budget for it, rest assured I'd give it a serious thought.

And, yeah. I noticed that too.
