Benjamin Ross@Laserone LOL. But lasers weren't seen as a big breakthrough. Physicists knew about them & used them. (I was in a laser lab in grad school in the early 70s.) But the general public didn't really pay attention until they came into wide use later, in supermarket scanners etc.
Very different from computers, which I believe were a big deal from the start.
