bmaz@Dahlialith @20002ist @JoshuaHolland I did not quit at all. I work off of lists and the usability of Twitter has not changed at all for me. No extra "hate speech" etc. Nothing. And Twitter remains one hell of a lot more usable than Mastodon. Going from Twitter to Mastodon is like abandoning a Porsche and buying a used Toyota Corolla off of a street corner. Musk is garbage, but a lot of the dialogue is seriously overblown.
@bmaz @20002ist @JoshuaHolland I think I've landed at the conclusion that the quit to stay ratio is just intensely personal: How much you benefit versus how viscerally gross it is to be a useful knowing widget for that guy. Its why I don't tell other people what to do but also why I feel my own decisions awash with vagueness and shifting daily. Its also why I didn't do anything noisily; I'm still figuring it out.
Joshua Holland@Dahlialith @bmaz @20002ist I try not to be judgy and get that people can come down on the other side of the line from me but I am mystified by those who don't even see it as an ethical question in the first place.
