Yesterday I was part of a group that peacefully protested the expansion of a coal mine in Germany. We were kettled by police and then detained but were let go later that evening.

Climate protection is not a crime.

The apparent "staging" of the photos (see below) does make one question this entire event though, and only fuels naysayers - can you explain more what was going on from your POV?

@martin @gretathunberg once she was removed from the "danger area" and was acting peacefully, the police have no reason to shove her around violently. The police also have nothing to charge her with, and they know she is a celebrity. So, they are quite happy to stop and take a photo so long as she eventually ends up in custody. That's the most likely thing.
