Playing a venerable classic at the moment: Manassas by Rick Britton, first published over 40 years ago. Playing it in multiple sessions, this is about 4 hours into the game and not quite halfway through the battle. So far I'm really liking it - very interesting design.
@DrCrossbows Wow! That map is really nice.

Now a well presented battlefield park, holding the strip malls and condo developments at bay.
@Volko @alexandrefr I haven't been to visit in years. I pass through Manassas frequently enough when flying home to visit family, but I don't usually stop there. Much of my childhood was spent at ACW battlefields, although more often the Wilderness or Chancellorsville rather than Manassas - plus an annual visit to Gettysburg!

Antietam is my favorite.

I actually don't think I've ever been. I'll have to add it to the list!

@Volko @DrCrossbows @alexandrefr When my wife and i were first married, we arrived at Antietam just ahead of an electrical storm. I was walking up to Burnside Bridge when the storm hit and we had to leave. She said not to worry, we will be back. I ran onto the bridge and took a picture in pouring rain.

That was 29 years ago 🤪…She still tells me to not worry we will be back and I was lucky she saved me from being struck by Lightning like some “fool in the rain.”

Early in our marriage we stayed at a B&B in Sharpsburg, next to a Union cemetery, strolled there at night with bats overhead.
@Volko @DrCrossbows @alexandrefr That is fantastic, what an experience.

The Sunken Road at Antietam is particularly evocative, I think.
@Volko @DrCrossbows @alexandrefr Fortunately we went there first. You are very right.
I have always been obsessed with Burnside Bridge as it seemed like a turning point lost in time. It was ironic that I saw it for less that a few minutes as it really captured my imagination as to what happened and what could have been.
