Finally a starry night here on Waiheke. I took a few photographs, using a Pixel 6 and a tissue box as a makeshift tripod.
More stars in last night's sky. This time with additional cloud action...
@neilhimself It looks like the sky is coming to give you a hug.
@neilhimself it's just amazing how the pixel line can take these photos. i can point it at my bright suburban night sky, wait a couple minutes, and my god
@neilhimself I snapped this one on Monday morning just before Dawn. The moon shining through the clouds gave the landscape a ghostly glow.

@neilhimself

The sky is the best place for stars.

It's when they fall out of the sky and hit the ground that you have problems.

Just ask the dinosaurs.

Oh, wait. We can't.

@davidtheeviloverlord @neilhimself meteors are not stars... but I get what you mean
@neilhimself This last one looks like a teddy bear thrown into space
@neilhimself it looks as if there is an (almost) entity trying to reach out from the sky!
@neilhimself a cosmic fat cat coming in for a hug 🤩
@neilhimself gosh I hope my pics turn out as gorgeously as this one
