New documents show that despite red flags from employees, big tech companies like Twitter refused to rein in or clamp down on pro-Trump social media accounts in the lead up to January 6th - while at the same time censoring and removing anarchist, antifascist, and left-wing accounts during the George Floyd uprising.

"Congressional investigators found evidence that tech platforms — especially Twitter — failed to heed their own employees’ warnings about violent rhetoric on their platforms and bent their rules to avoid penalizing conservatives, particularly then-president Trump, out of fear of reprisals."

At Facebook, the company's head on 'dangerous organizations' stated that broader action against 'violent rhetoric' would have resulted in taking down “much of the conservative movement on the platform, far beyond just groups that said ‘Stop the Steal,’ mainstream conservative commentators.”

Once again - big tech has two sets of rules. One, for autonomous anti-capitalist and anti-fascist groups, which are censored for speech and engaging in legitimate organizing, while the Right and Republican party gets a pass in fomenting violence and an authoritarian coup.

What the Jan. 6 probe found out about social media, but didn’t report

The Jan. 6 committee's 845-page report offered few details of social media's role in the Capitol riot. Transcripts and an unreleased memo shows the committee knew more.

@igd_news I'm sure this will be in the next twitter files

@igd_news
This, uh, characteristic of Twitter and Facebook are why I feel confident in stating that Joseph Goebbels would have loved the platforms.

That alone is enough to search for ways to attenuate that aspect while maintaining necessary elements of "free speech".

@igd_news (psssst…. It’s “rein in”)

@igd_news "Twitter employees, they testified, could not even view the former president’s tweets in one of their key content moderation tools,"

Bet cash money Board member Pichette was behind that one. He was a (QAnon) QCumber all the way through.

Edit: "Russian trolls posing as Americans posted misinformation on both Twitter and Facebook, without detection."

Disinformation, and they were most certainly detected; anyone who pointed out their accounts, and their DISinformation campaigns, were rapidly falsely reported by thousands of these accounts - and reall accounts were suspended. Like I was. OR! If you weren't suspended, you were "Rate limit exceeded" so you could not report anything AT ALL. Meaning the foreign state hostile actors could censor ME right off the h*llsite, but I could not report them at all.

This was 2020-2021 (I was suspended for most of 2022) long before Elno the red muppet Manchurian Qovidiot fifth columnist for Putin and Xi took over.

"Her main way of finding tweets calling for Vice President Mike Pence’s execution was by pasting the hashtag into the Twitter website's search box, manually copying each tweet's details into an internal flagging tool, and then returning to the timeline as more tweets poured in."

It was a feature, not a bug; that's exactly what the Russians and Chinese and Iranians paid for.

@igd_news Note the second ivermectin disinformation campaign, that caused Omicron, and directly killed tens of millions of people around the world in 2021 alone, hit *six* *tweets* *per* *second* on September 11, 2021.

https://nitter.unixfox.eu/TheSpoonless/status/1436749753627381760#m

The 20th anniversary of 9/11. If you think that was a coincidence, I don't know what to tell you.

@igd_news "The investigators also wrote that much of the content that was shared on Twitter, Facebook and other sites came from Google-owned YouTube, which did not ban election fraud claims until Dec. 9 and did not apply its policy retroactively."

Twitter did it on December 2, 2021. That's right! Almost ONE FULL YEAR too late!

https://nitter.unixfox.eu/TwitterSafety/status/1466355736791990276#m

And too late for the ivermectin disinformation campaigns, too, that had already caused Omicron to spread across the earth by that point.

And all the Chinese had to do was sit back and shitpost as Americans on that hellscape of a hellsite, the avian droppings container.

But what they weren't counting on, were the animal reservoirs, that ended up bringing the plague back in, to "zero COVID" China.

https://www.nationalgeographic.com/animals/article/how-so-many-animal-species-contract-covid

And now China is dealing with 59,000 deaths per day.

At least maybe the lethal shitposting *should* stop now, shouldn't it? Silver linings and all that. (Note my sarcasm.)
