Conservatives want deflation. Liberals want inflation. Inflation helps the poor and those in debt. Deflation helps the rich and hurts the poor

It depends. It is hard on the truly poor. But It does tend to benefit the working poor when combined with reasonable wage increases. The working poor (at least in the US) are more apt to own homes in less desirable neighborhoods and or have debt from medical bills, attempts at college, children etc and those debts do tend to inflate away. Obviously it’s beneficial to the so called middle class if they have debt.
