EVERYONE, particularly “good white folx” need to be exposed to Scene On Radio’s “Seeing White” series because strategic ignorance is an EFFECTIVE & EFFICIENT tool of white supremacy & anti-Blackness…it is REQUIRED for those who seek to develop a consistent, demonstrated antiracist practice

@KimCrayton1 YES!!! This is an excellent series. I learned so much from it.
@KimCrayton1 Totally agree that this is such a good series and opened my eyes to the built-in assumptions which I was taught.
@KimCrayton1 Thank you! I thought I was growing as an ally, but when I started reading “The White Allies Handbook,” I cringed at how little I know. I’m always looking to learn.
@KimCrayton1 @funnygodmother thank you for sharing. I somehow missed this when it first came out, but I’m eager to listen.

@KimCrayton1 this was critical for me in my journey from clueless to somewhat-less-clueless. SOOOoooo good and challenging.

Also excellent resource re: white supremacy and evangelicalism

@KimCrayton1 Thank you. Will start listening tonight.

@KimCrayton1
Seconded (if I may).

And after that: Nice White Parents, so you can see white people screw up an attempt to fix things. Lessons to be learned, hopefully. https://www.nytimes.com/2020/07/30/podcasts/nice-white-parents-serial.html

@KimCrayton1 1000% agree. It’s the most life-changing podcast I’ve ever listened to. I’m eternally grateful for the work of @jbiewen
@KimCrayton1 We listened to it as a weekly staff exercise at @letterformarchive. Invaluable education.
@KimCrayton1 absolutely agreed. I've run classes on that series. It is so good.
@KimCrayton1 thank you for sharing.

@KimCrayton1 I will be queuing this up, and if it’s as good as it looks to be, encouraging my Quaker meeting to listen too as well.

Thank you.

@KimCrayton1 I listened to this several years ago, multiple times. Opened my eyes to so much.
@KimCrayton1 Love love love that episodes have transcripts!
@WestCoastChelle yep. They were helpful when I used it for discussion when I hosted a Discord group
@KimCrayton1
thank you for hinting to this podcast which gives great insights into racism in the united states of america

i would like to add some aspects:
i have been disappointed that neither arthur de gobineau nor henry hotze were mentioned in the podcast series > their impact on american racist ideologues is indisputable and cannot be overstated > especially henry hotze's role is often overlooked, and here it happened again

another aspect that made me wonder:
the way the podcast depicted johann friedrich blumenbach is disputable - while blumenbach has invented race categories, he somewhat paradoxically cannot exactly be called a racist thinker - see

@KimCrayton1 Such a good series. I’ve recommended it widely. I wish I could make people listen to it.
@KimCrayton1 That is a great podcast series. I knew Chenjerai Kumanyika when he was at Clemson Univ. where I also worked for a time.
