@mtsw "Usually improve" might be true, or it might be optimistic. "Sometimes improve" is certainly true, but some people seem to go in the other direction.

The important part is that when people improve, they admit the harm they caused, apologize for the harm, and commit to doing better.

Saying "pay no attention to the past" is a sure sign they have NOT improved--they just want to get away with bad behavior.
