Life was simpler when I could just buy #shrub to have with my #rum, but since they shut the factory down I've been making my own and it's much tastier even if it requires patience.
After two weeks of intermingling, the shrub has now been roughly filtered and now needs to sit so that the sediment will settle. If any #homebrewers have any suggestions, I'd be very happy to know a better way of filtering that out.
@frak Loved shrub, my dad drank it with his rum.
@wyliecoyoteuk I was devastated when they stopped making it, but this self-made version is stronger and has a less sugary flavour so I guess it all worked out for the best in the end.
@frak I used to mix a teaspoon of shrub with a splash of hot water as a warming drink when one of the family had a cold.
Also Phillips peppermint cordial mixed with navy rum if you had a hangover.
@wyliecoyoteuk that sounds interesting - such a shame they closed down

@wyliecoyoteuk here's the recipe I use if you are interested: https://tikkido.com/blog/Cornish-shrub-recipe

The only thing I do differently is that I use the rum I normally drink instead of cognac.
