I don't know how many privacy friends I have OnHere, but it is about that time...

....I am leaving Twilio next week.

It's been a really incredible four years. I have built things I'm so proud of: I built a team of brilliant young privacy pros, each of whom has gone on to explore and develop their own specialties in privacy; I built a global privacy program that assessed compliance in data protection laws around the world and communicated our position clearly without getting lost in legalese;

I led our employee data protection program through a global pandemic, helping to build processes to collect and protect sensitive data like vaccination status as we returned to offices while caring for employee rights; I managed breach notifications for some pretty harrowing security incidents and worked with our security team to build a very resilient data breach response program.

My team and I built our Privacy Knowledge Base. We built our privacy training. We built our internal guidance.

Most of Twilio’s public-facing privacy pages are mine, or drafted by my team and me. We built the Privacy Center at https://www.twilio.com/privacy, which I’m so, so proud of. We made our Privacy Notice (https://www.twilio.com/legal/privacy) so user friendly and clear, and same with our Employee Privacy Notice (https://www.twilio.com/legal/employee-privacy).

I’m so, so proud of this work and the team that worked on these things with me (Magdala, Goldy, Nathan, not on the dinosite, but absolute rockstars).

Twilio
It's hard to sum up four years. It's a LOT, and I don't normally talk about myself. But I've had a hell of a run there, and I'm so grateful for the time I've had and the team I've had with me. Thank you.

I'm taking a month off — much needed — and I start tackling a new adventure at the end of February. New things to build. New challenges to overcome. I'll have to actually deal with ads! Terrifying.

Watch this space, I'll tell you all more about it when I'm ready. But until then, I'm just gonna take some time and appreciate what I've had and what I've accomplished.

@nsqe four years? What? No. Time does not pass like that.

And will you be traveling during the time off, or should we lunch/coffee?

@luis_in_brief I would /love/ to get lunch / coffee. I may be traveling, but not for the full month, so let's plan for sometime in Feb?
@nsqe (1) you should travel a lot! (2) yes, february, though earlier is better (weeks of 13-26th are going to be tricky because K is going on a business trip to India). [email protected] or signal?
