I've been using Rewind for the past 2 months and it's one of the very few "this is completely new to me" app experiences I've had in years.

My thoughts are going up on The Sweet Setup soon for this, so keep your eyes peeled 😏

And speaking of subscriptions, it's a shame the subscription is so high because I don't think I can justify it for the long haul and will probably cancel after my review is done 🙁

Rewind

Rewind is a personalized AI powered by everything you’ve seen, said, or heard.

All the recording, processing, and storage is on-device, and I would probably pay if they offered a $100-300 lifetime license, but $20/month forever is a tough sell.

I love this app, but $20/month adds up quick.

I’ll add one more thing…this really feels like an OS feature, not just an app. Apple should 100% acquire these guys and build this into macOS.

“Time Machine has always backed up your files, now it backs up your actions as well.” 👈 or some better message from someone better than me at marketing

@birchtree $20 is just too much. Especially if it’s all on device, hopefully their server costs will be low enough to get that price point down.
@dkatri Yeah, this price point effectively means high income tech enthusiasts, which maybe is enough to sustain a business (see Superhuman for email), but it would install become the most expensive software I use if I stuck with it and that seems bananas.
@birchtree what do you think the top end of its worth is? $10/month? It does sound useful but the price is keeping me from trying it.

@dkatri $10 is probably my absolute ceiling to even consider it, but I find that hard too.

Like maybe if they had a Backblaze-style backup of my data that I could restore onto a new computer or something, maybe it would be more compelling.

Honestly, I think $50/year would be okay if it was getting continual improvements over that time (which it is, currently).

@birchtree I imagine the long-term play for them might be the enterprise market? From that perspective, the cost is fairly standard, sadly.
@birchtree I feel like this applies to so many apps, macOS has left innovation to the 3rd party apps market. I don’t know if it’s laziness or just cost control
@birchtree I felt like this was the ultimate goal when I saw this. Totally a feature not a product.
