In case you're wondering why we're so focused on transit, walking, and biking. There's one and only one way to fix this: shifting more trips out of cars. https://www.bostonherald.com/2023/01/11/boston-second-most-congested-city-in-u-s-fourth-in-the-world-traffic-report-says/
Boston second-most congested city in U.S., fourth in the world, traffic report says

Time lost to traffic congestion in Boston increased by a whopping 72% last year, placing it second for worst gridlock in the United States, and fourth worldwide, a new report found.

Boston Herald

@jfh “Despite the significant year-to-year increase, time lost to traffic in Boston was still 10% below pre-COVID levels”

I wonder why remote work hasn’t had more than a 10% effect in Boston.

@jfh Maybe shoving so many cars into a city built before the car isn't such a great idea.
@jfh What policies should we implement to actually make this change happen? Boston has been talking about this for decades and almost nothing has been done. Certainly nothing has been done at a large enough scale to improve modal share.

@kinkema @jfh The from my cold dead hands attitude surrounding every inch of car infrastructure at the expense of everything else has prevented so much.

We need our #Boston officials to demonstrate political courage and reallocate more of our public street space to bus lanes / cycle etc and away from parking and private motor vehicle convenience & speed.

@jfh “Come on bro, just one more lane bro, everything will be different I promise bro… come on, just one more lane”
@jfh Time for Boston to implement congestion pricing and use those funds to improve transit, biking, and walking! @wutrain
