What's more important, telling Hollywood that nerds really want a D&D movie?
Or telling Hasbro that it's not okay to steal our livelihoods?

@vkfarfalle That's a bit short-sighted. It's mainly Paramount Pictures (yes, also a Corporation, but not involved in this shitshow) who will suffer if this movie flops, not so much Hasbro. They, in all likelihood, got their licensing money and are in the clear.
It's also the nerds in the production team who will suffer a professional setback from a flop, not Hasbro.
And it will indeed tell production studios that nerdy rpg movies don't fly.
No-one wants that.
Hasbro's getting a cut out of the box office and that means my money doesn't go in.
Yes, it's sad that the showrunners and the cast and crew are getting shafted here. It's sad the people who work for WotC making D&D are getting shafted, too. It's a shame the only people who aren't getting shafted are the ones that deserve it.
Again, which is more important, telling Hollywood to make movies for us, or telling Hasbro that destroying our life's work is completely unacceptable?
@vkfarfalle I had to google this. They actually do. They have good lawyers.
Still, you're trying to paint a black and white scenario which in real life only rarely exists.
Weren't you just recently supportive of the idea to not punish publishers for Hasbros missteps? This is the same thing. Only in this case it's not game designers but movie crew.
To answer this finally: No, I don't think you should punish peeps from the community because they are associated with AssCorp by proxy.
Been a long few days, so if I'm striking inconsistent positions and leaving you uncertain where I stand, I do apologize.
I don't think anyone should be punished for having to work with Hasbro on this, but I also think anything that puts money directly in Hasbro's pockets should be off-limits for the duration.
If they just kiss the ring, they're bystanders. If they're "experts" paying royalties they're still blameless but now they're collateral damage.
