Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene is trying to walk back her QAnon beliefs, claiming that she was "sucked in" by the internet.
Oh puhh-leeeze, at least take responsibility for your own words and actions. Too much to ask of MTG, I know.

@georgetakei I believe some members of the GOP just pretend to be complete, total, cacophonously stupid credulous morons, and I believe Greene is *not* one of them.
I honestly believe that reporters have a duty to call her an idiot, to her face, in earshot of everyone around her, repeatedly, and to print that shit.
This woman needs to be told she is an idiot every single goddamn day of her life.
@georgetakei soon: "I was just following orders". 😟
I hope we as a society have learned how to deal with fascists...
facepalm.
...and I know her constituents will buy in to that. There's no anticipating just how low willingly gullible people will go, when they have to justify their own bad decisions.
it's the "when I was young and foolish defense"
applied by a 48 year old to her 47 year old self
At least take responsibility? She doesn't remember.
@georgetakei If anyone's beliefs and personality are swept up in obvious internet lies, hoaxes, and conspiracy theories, they should not be a representative- whether they are still caught up or admit that they were caught up.
This was never a "believed bad information", this was "believed bad information that wasn't logical, relied on absurdities, and was disproven in over 50 court cases".
@georgetakei she IS a core face of Qanon conspiracy theories. She is, and was, an elected, sworn, member of congress pushing total lunacy.
She was not “sucked in” — she knew better. Her lungs and lips were providing the suction.
I like heroes who don't get captured by the internet
@dynarski @georgetakei Then #JohnMastodon should be your ideal. #TheResistanceWillBeFederated
Sad to think this isn't even close to the dumbest thing Mrs-Quacking-In-Their-Boots has said...
@georgetakei See, if she actually thought she’d been duped, she’d be fighting like hell to discredit the conspiracy theory so no one else would get “sucked in” the way she claims to have been.
If she doesn’t think the spread of right-wing misinformation is an incredibly serious issue, her view of QAnon hasn’t changed at all. To her, it’s true whenever supporting it helps her career.
@georgetakei "“I will tell you something, if Steve Bannon and I organized that, we would have won,” she said, as attendees erupted in cheers and applause. “Not to mention, it would’ve been armed.”"

Total War includes brazen lying to put your enemies off guard. Don't buy it.
