Fascist tyrants worldwide are on the attack, but they will continue losing as long as freedom-loving people resist in solidarity. We pull through by pulling together. #lula #brazil

@the_dan It's not a failure when the instigators are still at large. Justice includes accountability.
@phil_stevens agree that we need accountability, not only for justice but for safety. They did fail to achieve their immediate objectives though, and it’s important to name that.

@the_dan If it keeps happening more regularly, there's more chance they won't fail.

We're doing absolutely nothing to address the anti intellectualism that got us here.

@BridgetClinch I agree that the more they try, the greater the likelihood that they succeed. But I see anti-intellectualism as one of many of their tools rather than the root cause of their movement.
@the_dan what do you think caused this if not decades of anti intellectualism?
@BridgetClinch I think of anti-intellectualism as nitrogen in the soil. Fascist leaders are the farmers.

@the_dan hmm

Sort of, but all the ruling class benefit from anti intellectualism, it has kept 2 party systems alive, enabled oligarchy and neoliberalism, this just seems like a natural progression

@BridgetClinch I see anti-intellectualism as a pre-condition and a tool, not as the prime driver, and I don’t understand your argument to the contrary (or if you are still arguing to the contrary)
@the_dan I just see it as one of, if not the main thing that needs to be undermined and defeated in order to get back on track as a society
@BridgetClinch a thing that we need to be undermine, I agree. But I don’t think it’s the main thing or that it can be fully defeated.
@the_dan and what is?
@BridgetClinch I don’t think fascism can be eradicated altogether. It’s too opportunistic and preys too easily on human nature. It can only be overpowered by a confident and inclusive majority.
@the_dan I think it can, but only if the whole of society values critical thinking, comprehension, and information literacy
