Many, many years ago my father wrote a little #book of maxims. Some are obvious, some I disagree with, some are pompous, and some are rather good. There are 8 chapters.
#actors spend a lot of time #unemployed!

He had a real 🐝 in his 👒 about theft. Not entirely sure where that came from.
Sorry, rather dropped the ball with this thread. Back on it now. The last of CONDUCT. I like 24.
A short but excellent chapter on #CHILDREN.
@CatherineRussell2 I like the way 24 is worded—in logically expanding circles. I can’t really argue with it.
@CatherineRussell2
Number 27!!
It really is, but I'm not.
Glad these have reappeared.
@CatherineRussell2
24 is spot on - can't argue with it really.
@CatherineRussell2
Your Dad, a great philosophical thinker. I love reading these. Thank you for sharing. Will miss reading them.
@CatherineRussell2
If we could all live by #24.
@CatherineRussell2 I have loved reading these. Thank you very much for sharing them with us Catherine.
@CatherineRussell2 it has been fascinating reading your dear dad's book, thank you for sharing
@Sarahebrook Oh, there's many more chapters to come! That was just Conduct. Though, if memory serves, the others are much shorter.
@CatherineRussell2 fantastic, I can't wait to read them, this is just brilliant, and thank you again for sharing this with us
@CatherineRussell2 just so much sense in these times.
@CatherineRussell2
They all have something that we can take away. 24 and experienced 25 with my twin while in England driving through the snow. She gets anxious at times. Everything worked out.  Thank you.
@CatherineRussell2 just so true. I’ve known stealing and it’s not pleasant
@parrythechef No of course not, but then no crime is if you’re the victim. It just always struck me as such a strange one for him to focus on.
@CatherineRussell2 something must have made him write it. I wonder what??
@CatherineRussell2
I love these.
You really should collate some of your Dad's writings, everybody should read a little bit of Nicholas Smith!
@CatherineRussell2 I like the psychological understanding in these. Acknowledging prejudice so as not to act on it, being kind to yourself when things don’t turn out well, thinking though decisions. I like them.
@CatherineRussell2 I love these Number 15 and 17 is so true.
@CatherineRussell2 oh my goodness what you your dad wrote will stay relevant for forever. He writes what everyone should be learning and thinking. Genius
@CatherineRussell2 These are gems! 15 is so useful! And 17 is positively inspiring. 16 is good to remember, too.
@CatherineRussell2
Just worked out the title. Broke #15 already. Should have just asked.
#actor
@CatherineRussell2 @LuckyLadyInStepney I think 15 is one of the most valuable maxims ever - how else do you learn if not by saying "I don't understand"? And it always catches up with you if you don't!
@CatherineRussell2 I love this.
However, I read it at lunch time and earlier I had the opportunity to try number 14 out after a 'disagreement' with two 6yr olds. Sadly, it cut no cloth!! No mistakes were made AT ALL and A still thinks B put pink glitter on their unicorn's bottom. I await the next page. X
@CatherineRussell2 the amount of times I’ve admitted to not knowing something and everyone then admitting they didn’t either.
@CatherineRussell2 I always emphasised to my children, if you don't ask you don't receive, and will never know the answer. 15 & 17.
@CatherineRussell2 15 Think it was about age 12, whilst in a maths lesson doing algebra, hated the stuff didnt understand it, but l thought sod it you arent going to learn how to do questions, if they appear in an exam paper. Glad l did,a few more followed suit asking for help.
@Aprilsmum @CatherineRussell2 all the help I asked for still didn't help. My kids are wizards at maths. I know how to save and spend so I didn't need algebra. I did need to know formulars at work to set up and data entry for excel spreadsheets. 🥰
@CatherineRussell2 I think we could all be a little happier if we followed some of these wisdoms. I’d just need to remember them.
@CatherineRussell2 I’m not sure I’ve ever seen number 11 put into words, but I agree with it. These are so interesting.
@tracytwilson And I would add that it's equally vital to accept when a battle has been lost. Then at least you can have that energy back!
@CatherineRussell2 True! I think I’m more accustomed to thinking about it that way.
@CatherineRussell2
I think I would reverse 8 and 7, if not combine them.
Surely a maxim should stand alone: it cannot rely on "However".
@CatherineRussell2
These are great!
@ViolaDelgado I'll post the next page or two tomorrow.
@CatherineRussell2
Thanks I really enjoy them.
@CatherineRussell2 "Hesitate to destroy. It is very easy." - my favorite. The right message with the right reason. In only 7 words.
@CatherineRussell2
Thank you for sharing such a deeply personal view of how your dad perceived the world and the principles he thought important on his journey. Doesn't mean he always lived them, but in some way, they guided him. You can't write that way without feeling it. I'm yet to read anything I find pompous or outdated. We all see and interpret things through our experience of life.
@CatherineRussell2 there's a message that can be taken out of each and everyone of them. To me they are very intuitive of your dad's outlook on life. I like his thinking.
@CatherineRussell2 Can we read some more please Catherine.
