New: Trump is facing a legal challenge to his eligibility to run for president in 2024, only a few weeks after the Jan. 6 congressional committee suggested the 14th Amendment as a path to disqualifying him from ever holding office again

@zoetillman So, the useless and obstructive twits in the J6 Committee, and some hangers on, think Trump can be blithely banned without any due process and/or conviction? Seriously???
@bmaz @zoetillman
It _is_ due process. They are suing in court based on the 14th amendment, sec 3, which says: "No person shall… hold any office…shall have engaged in insurrection or rebellion against the same, or given aid or comfort to the enemies thereof. But Congress may, by a vote of two-thirds of each House, remove such disability." That single "we love you" quip is aid and comfort, even if he was prevented kicking and screaming from joining the seditionists.
@allenholub @zoetillman Lol, thanks for the advisory. I can read the Constitution, it's Amendments and law. Actually have quite a bit of experience in that. And, no, that is NOT "due process" for such a terminal remedy. "Aid and comfort"?? Seriously??? I probably dislike Trump et. al more than you do, but this kind of blithe garbage is not helpful.

@bmaz

Going to court is due process. Is there any precedent suggesting conviction of a crime is needed?

@allenholub @zoetillman

@EyalL @allenholub @zoetillman Lol, seriously? Do you have any clue what Due Process is???

@bmaz

Yes, and it relates to conviction, not to the 14th amendment.

@allenholub @zoetillman

@EyalL @allenholub @zoetillman Hshs, that p-roves you don't really understand squat.
