Enjoying the lull before the next storm comes barreling in from the Atlantic... "Severe Gale 9, perhaps Storm 10 later."

@RussCheshire @clarebee Is there a dun/fort on that headland?
@tombarkas @clarebee Hi, yes, there is; the big hill is Dùn Mòr. At the left of the photo just out of shot is another, Dùn Diomhanaís; and below that, right at the edge of the sea, is Dùn Aorain. There are quite a few more in the area!

@RussCheshire @clarebee Hi Russ, Without knowing what the other side was like, it seemed an obvious site. So, the “Big Fort”, maybe implying there are others? Whereabouts is it? I’m into prehistoric things, the wilder the area the better. If I get a new dog, I might explore!

Edit: It’s above the slate quarries at Easdale, isn’t it? Been up there a couple of years ago

@tombarkas @clarebee This is on Seil in Argyll, about 15 miles south of Oban. If you have a look at canmore.org.uk you can see quite a few of the sites; and maps.nls.uk is a great resource too. I can waste hours... 😁
@RussCheshire @clarebee Have you been out to the islands with the monastery of beehive monk cells? Very interesting
@tombarkas @clarebee The Garvellachs! I've been round and past them several times, but only landed to drop off and pick up a couple of geologists.
@RussCheshire @clarebee You’ll have to land and explore!
@RussCheshire @clarebee I went out on one of the boat trips from Ellenabeich - very interesting for a landlubber!
@RussCheshire is that Loch Melfort?
@ScotInTraining No; Melfort is over to the left of the shot, beyond Seil Sound and Luing. I can see Dùn Crutagain, the hill above Kilchoan Bay, from certain points along the road.
@RussCheshire i think you must be a bit further north, we are more craignish way, but we're up to oban yesterday
@ScotInTraining I am a little further north: Ellenabeich on Seil; where it's still blowing well...
@RussCheshire Seil and Easdale?looking awesome!
