By my math, McCarthy needs every remaining vote to become speaker, including Gaetz and Gosar who haven't voted yet.
Gosar has voted for McCarthy in the past two rounds and is likely to do so again. If Getz votes for someone else, doesn't vote or votes present, then it goes to the 15th round.
Gaetz votes present.
McCarthy has gone over to speak to Gaetz.
There are also appeals to Boebert (sitting next to Gaetz) to change her vote from present to McCarthy.
"At one point a McCarthy ally, Mike Rogers of Alabama, stormed into the huddle and seemed on the brink of violence, but he retreated to a cloakroom off the floor." -- Paul Kane, Washington Post.
Official tally: 216 votes for McCarthy.
"...a speaker has not been elected." - Clerk Cheryl Johnson.
An electronic vote now being taken on adjournment until Monday.
Trump apparently still attempting to play a role in whipping votes for McCarthy.
Something's up. Republicans changing their votes NOT to adjourn. Looks like we'll go to a 15th round.
Now there are indications Gaetz will vote for McCarthy in the 15th round. Speculation includes he was promised a committee chair or Trump convinced him to support McCarthy.
@w7voa Committee Chair, credibly accused of paying to have sex with minors. Your GOP, folks.
@unabogie @w7voa it’s ok he can’t take it with him to jail
