@nixCraft I'm the person showing the AI what data to chew on and tuning its output. So far, it helps us 'do more', and that ends up needing -more- people.
@nixCraft honestly I would be highly interested in seeing AI try. I mean it literally can't by definition (physical) but I wonder how much of the design or suggestions of various upgrades or repairs it could even do. likely the training dataset is too small though.
@nixCraft I'm a teacher, so it still a looong way for us to be replaced by AI.
@nixCraft already has, at least once
@nixCraft I'd like to see AI replace a keyboard.
@nixCraft The nice thing is that AI cannot replace critical thinking and ingenuity. It's also very stupid. I asked Chat GPT to generate an Ansible playbook for me, and it was using parameters that don't even exist in the module I asked it to use.
AI is the worst kind of stupid: confident stupid.
@nixCraft @travis Exactly this! Just imagine all the confidently dumb people you’ve come across in real life, but operating as a sort of hive mind with access to substantial computing resources. And then imagine all the other people who won’t be able to distinguish their bullshit output from facts 😩

@nixCraft Define 'soon'.

This week, month or year? No.

This decade, or quarter of a century? Yes.

@nixCraft Reason: it won't like the pay.
@nixCraft Is there an option for I hope so?
@nixCraft I doubt AI would want to deliver newspapers for ~160€/month πŸ˜…

@nixCraft
I'm a teacher at south america, i hope not.

At this point, we're the prequel of 1984 and brave new world altogether.

@nixCraft nope, because I research it and teach students about it (and research other stuff, including human behaviour)
@nixCraft AI can happily have my job of sitting in meetings all day with my camera off while I play my switch
