For my sins I listened to The Federalist podcast take on the shenanigans in the House. I learned that (according to them) Jim Jordan is a sell-out, that “establishment Republicans” like McCarthy & McConnell are part of a uniparty with the Democrats (who are still dangerous radical left Socialists, of course) and that these sorts of contested Speaker votes happen all the time [narrator: last time was 1923].

I also learned that the only real conservatives are in the House Freedom Caucus and that these far right commentators say they find themselves agreeing quite often with “leftists” like Briahna Joy Gray.

It seemed notable that the two ads were for 1) a podcast series that can bring you daily doses of the "living word of God" via the Bible and 2) an online Casino where you can win tons of money. This podcast, last I checked, is recorded at the DC campus of Hillsdale College, the far right Christian college that was behind Trump's shambolic 1776 Project and many of the anti-CRT initiatives around the country.

I also learned that Covid definitely came from a "lab leak" and that the media and Fauci have been lying to you about it this entire time, that Trey Gowdy is also a RINO squish, that Fox News is just part of the "uniparty" apparatus at this point, and that Chip Roy is one of the few people in Congress willing to stand on principle.

I will say that these folks seem pretty well sourced in terms of access to the Chip Roy's of the world. They rightly pointed out that mainstream coverage has had difficulty explaining why people like Jim Jordan and MTG are on opposite sides of this struggle than Boebert and Gaetz. While there is some diversity of opinion on the far right worth noting, it pales in comparison to the many extreme things they generally agree on. Like blowing up the federal government because freedom.
