So. My #ElectrifyEverything home made the news.

Also, I hope that I give "Colorado Man" a better rap than #FloridaMan

Article is great but I'll point out I got more than a new furnace for my $30k! Also new hot water heater & EV charger!

How a Colorado green home renovation paid off during the winter storm

Chaz Teplin tore out gas appliances and installed electric one, then documented the energy savings during the winter storm in late December.

@chazteplin super exciting! Our IRA-boosted installation is coming up. When did you do yours? (I’m wondering how many winters and how many summers you’ve gone through with it.)
@extrasuper
It's early days! This was the first true cold spell. Installed last summer (2022)
@chazteplin keep sharing about it the ! 😂 It was hard for us to find an installer that we thought was up on heat pumps and this climate. I’m also curious about your summer experience… part of what is driving us is that we have a 50s house with no cooling (lots of insulation and weatherization at this point). Summers have become increasingly brutal.
@extrasuper A heat pump is an A/C so you will be way happier in the summer. I already had an old A/C – the heat pump replaced it and is way more efficient.
@chazteplin yeah, we are aware of that. 😀 It’s going to be a little crazy going from the “open windows at night/close windows in the morning” method to actually being able to do something on those hottest days. (We’ll still be doing as much passive cooling as possible.)
