I'll say this again and figure out how to pin it, though I'd rather pin a pretty picture. But it's come up again.

Don't just DM (PM, whatever) out of the blue for no apparent reason. If you want to get to know me, you can do that in public; that way other people get to know me too. There's nothing you 𝘩𝘒𝘷𝘦 to say to me privately that I want to hear, privately or not. I don't have any money and I'm in a monogamous relationship.

Thanks for your understanding.

That is an interesting clarification of Mast etiquette. I have sent a DM once or twice. Apologies - I had no idea that was a come on. I was just trying to target a reply that presumably others would be uninterested in, such as thanking someone for a link.
I still find this format confusing. How to target environmental stuff to greenies..animal stuff to veg*ns..tech articles to techies, instead of everyone seeing everything. Since some techies for instance get annoyed by green stuff.

@plipplop The DMs you sent don't fall under my rule. You had a reason. Not just "hi". Definitely not a come on. The reason I mentioned that aspect and the money thing is that's been my experience. I'm perfectly happy to engage about other things! :)

Hashtags are the best way to reach the people who want to see the content they want to see. Also people can block keywords if there's a subject they don't want to see.

It is a little confusing at first; I know *I* was confused!

@thejustkat
heh gotcha! Thanks for the info. It is a bit overwhelming. I am used to message boards with specific forums fir specific topics-never used social media.This jumble of all things together is a bit confusing. Thanks again!

@plipplop Reddit?

If you have more questions at any point I'll try to answer them. :)

@thejustkat
Thanks Kat! I think I am getting better at it.
@thejustkat @plipplop
I had someone do this so I replied publicly saying that that was a little uncomfortable and not how things work here. They made it back into a dm and replied again hi and so I just blocked them.
@hannahshouse2 @plipplop Ignoring them is sometimes the best choice, but when they keep at you, blocking is the only thing to do.
