As a media analyst, I cannot tell how much I think we as the press failed when it COVID, and we are continuing to do so. Here is from the front page of one of the largest newspapers in my country:

No, we should not just live with a worldwide pandemic. Just last year, about 630 people died in Europe from COVID, and another 540 died in North America ... and that was just one day.

To put this into perspective, In 2021, 19,800 people died in traffic fatalities ... but almost 435,000 died from COVID.

So, here we have a newspaper telling people that we should just let 20 times more people die from a pandemic, while at the same time demanding cars to be safer.

Seriously newspapers.

Also, we cannot just live with COVID. Many people are vulnerable, so "living with COVID" means permanently being at high risk. One of these people is my father. He has late-stage bone marrow cancer. After six months of treatment, he is now stabilized for a number of years, but if he gets COVID now, it might be game over.

He cannot just "live with COVID". So, what these editors-in-chiefs are saying is "survival of the fittest". That's the mentality you are proposing.

@baekdal ehh our government’s grand plan is to give out 4 free home tests, this is who people think are doing great leading on Covid, so I guess we decided we are going to live with it
