I had a post removed from Mastodon today (my birthday) & the reason I imagine is my mocking tone about Kevin McCarthy, a public figure, whom I called a “loser” based on his 6 speaker runs. No personal remarks, nothing directed at anyone on this site, no demeaning or crude language. Now I have a “strike” against me: I’m stunned. I believe #Mastodon has the right to make the rules it likes and my intent is always to be respectful. I find the post quite benign; does that mean I’m not a good fit?

It would be the owner of mindly, who owns the instance/server you are on, who removed your post. Not mastodon.

Somewhere there is a list of mindly's rules of conduct, to which one agrees to observe when signing on to the server. Perhaps you can find an answer there.

Also there is likely contact info where you can inquire why your post was removed.

@mechtild55@mastodon. Appreciate the reply. I only saw info about contesting it, none about simply inquiring, although I’ll look again. I had thought I understood the rules of conduct and will re-read them. I always try to be respectful of other people, but speaking of a public figure in the abstract seemed different.

I know there’s a way to merge the info on this account with that one, but I’ve had password issues on this one so I may just re-follow everyone manually since it’s pretty much a brand new account.
