@lonepair Hm, unfortunately this is one of the prototype cases, where I find using the term perovskite particularly misleading. I would even argue that this effect is only possible in those anisotropic layered and rod structures, since it affords the A-cation to be anisotropically surrounded. That is not the case in perovskites (notwithstanding small, but 3D distortions through octahedral tilting).
@breter_j I appreciate your perspective, but low-dimensional perovskites represent a huge research field now. The terminology battle has been lost!
@lonepair It was by no means my intention to devalue the work, I think this is very interesting! Nonetheless, I would be even happier if the naming was more stringent.
@breter_j I do feel your pain. I have accepted the layered systems but still fight against some of the more dubious "perovskite" assignments!
