EDIT: #NeverMind I didn't hover for the alt-text! 1928! So nearly a century ago. And look at all that ghost ice!

Svalbard, for the less geographically-inclined, is a large archipelago FAR off northern Norway, **midway to the North Pole**. I hadn't heard of it before studying Norwegian. :)
