Hi #Plantstadon does anyone know what keeps causing this mould (I think it’s mould) to keep growing on the soil of my aloe vera plant?

I’ve cleaned it out before and changed the soil but it keeps coming back, none of his babies have had this issue??

If anyone has any ideas or suggestions I’d greatly appreciate it I don’t want to lose him 😭

Mold on Houseplant Soil: How to Prevent and Get Rid of It?

Ever noticed any white, fuzzy appearance or brown powdery mildew on the surface of your houseplant soil? It is a clear indication that you have mold on the soil.

@Manitobbes thanks for the link! it definitely resembles white mould 😩 it doesn’t seem harmful to the plant yet tho which is good to know!
@nsfyoubro do you get little bugs jumping about around this pot? If so it might be the fungus fungus gnats eat and letting it dry out more between waterings might help
@robmccracken no gnats thankfully! I haven’t watered it in about a month and won’t be watering it for another few weeks so hopefully the mould won’t grow back this time!
@nsfyoubro
Try watering from the bottom, and adding a layer of grit to the top. Maybe water a bit less.

@nsfyoubro

It's not just harmless. It's good to have.

@nsfyoubro i'd say: change soil asap and use less water.
@nsfyoubro I think it is just mineral deposits on the top of the soil
