The whole point of the Freedom Caucus is to never compromise, a world definitely exists where 435 people are locked in a room voting for Speaker forever, it can become an attraction in Washington like the Springfield tire fire

@ddayen The Freedom Caucus is the same bunch that killed bipartisan legislation in 2013 on immigration & the border. They forced Boehner to agree not to hold a vote on any legislation that could pass, if a majority of R's didn't support it.

Of course the GOP strategy had been to let the Dems vote for it to preserve individual members' right wing bonafides. The Freedom Caucus gambit blew that up. The chaos at the border is entirely the Freedom Caucus' fault - a message D's need to drive.

@johnstodder @ddayen The hilarity (in a dark way) of this is, MTG didn't do jack diddly squat for her years in office. Now that she has wriggled herself into a potential position of power if McCarthy takes the Speaker role, Her other 'freedum caucus/maga' members are doing what she claimed she would do from the beginning "Stop all government spending.." Just, we won't be able to accomplish any of that debt pay down that she claimed she was all about.

Another perfect example of Power of Country.
