the cycle:

course/curly hair is more visible when it's short -> shave more often and on the skin -> course/curly hair is more likely to be ingrown -> ingrown hairs -> hair grows back in like a day or two tops -> repeat

😔

"To treat ingrown hair, stop shaving, tweezing or waxing until the condition improves — usually 1 to 6 months"

that's not an option buddy

may the world know I'm desperately accepting advice
@inam I have no advice, just want to offer comfort if you want.

@inam Have you tried the 'magic shaving powder' (chemical hair remover)? If I remember right, it was originally developed for Black guys, to help avoid the bumps & ingrowing hairs that they're more prone to when shaving with a razor.

I first came across it in a trans-related subreddit, and it seems to generally be quite popular these days. (I think it was some kind of tiktok sensation at some point too).

@alx I think I may try it! I'm a bit worried about chemicals but I mean....it sounds so nice 😭
@inam Yeah, definitely do a patch test first in case your skin reacts badly. And one thing I learned after my first attempt with it: put some salve/vaseline on your lips & nostrils first, because they're more sensitive and will end up feeling quite raw if you get any on them.
