The answer can't only be 'spend more on the military'.

It requires changes in "the West", to stem the tide of greed & fascism; to integrate diplomacy into our fabric, not just add it on with a diplomatic corp.

Still, over the latter half of 2022, Canada's top military commander delivered — in public and before House of Commons committees — increasingly stark warnings about the future geopolitical landscape, where the war between Russia and Ukraine could go and the intentions of other disruptive international actors, such as China.

@EricLawton Fascinating article. A descending list of national military budgets to compare NATO membership countries to Russia-China-etc. would better put this narrative into context. As the current geopolitical order of resource flows becomes undermined expect more rallying cries. #colonialism #extractivism #RBIO

@EricLawton Imagine, if one had a magic wand that eliminated the militarized protection of wealth hoarders. The emissions of that extractivism ceasing & the resources that would become available to assist human and non-human flourishing, we'd be in a completely different world of opportunity.
