New #NSF-funded program in #AIEthics and #DataEthics at #NortheasternUniversity!

We'll bring in cohorts of approx. 10 #philosophy (or related) graduate students to #Boston for 10 weeks for each of the next 3 years (beginning this year) for training in #AIEthics and #DataEthics from our faculty and visiting scholars.

$12k stipend per student

@ricksva I'm currently in a program focusing on the sociology of AI. Does that qualify as "related", or are you looking for more pure humanities students? The faculty list associated with the program looks excellent!

@ricksva looks really interesting. Should I share with public health grad students who focus on bioethics or is that too far afield from philosophy per se?

@kdnyhan Thanks for that question -- we'd encourage any of the students you mentioned to apply, with the general principle being that the deeper their background in ethics, the better!

(I know of some efforts at Northeastern to create a similar/parallel program that's more directly intended for bioethics grad students, but I think things are not as far along and there certainly won't be a program in place this year.)

@ricksva Thanks for posting this, sounds like a great program! I happen to know someone perfectly suited (who is not me). For clarification, although I think I know the answer: the Jan 10th deadline is only for the coming year and there will be application phases for each of the three program years you mentioned? Or one application deadline for all three years? :)

@LeonDLotter I should've made it clearer that each summer is a unique/different cohort of people. So, you're right that next week's application deadline is ONLY for the inaugural 2023 cohort!
