I am interested in fundamental questions around the origin, scaling, and function of minds in a wide range of substrates. My lab uses a combination of developmental biophysics, computer science, and cognitive/behavioral sciences to do basic research on collective intelligence across scales. Applications include regenerative medicine, cancer reprogramming, bio-inspired AI, and the creation of novel synthetic living machines.
