@cjordahl@AbandonedAmerica It’s a time saver. When an edition is done the press is slowed to a stop and the paper left in place. That way the pressmen do not have to re-web the press for the next run. Even if there is a configuration change, it makes it easier to re-web if the paper can be cut where the change occurs rather than feed it all the way through the units.
@cjordahl@AbandonedAmerica my pleasure. They’re amazing machines. The presses we ran could put out 40,000 copies per hour. Every second counts and wasted time is not tolerated in a newspaper pressroom!
