I'll just say it: I was a heavy #Twitter user, but Elon is a horrible rightwing buffoon so I've been migrating to both #Mastodon and #Post. Thus far, while there are lots of interesting people on Post, posting there feels like dropping links into a dry well. I get very little engagement, even when I use hashtags. I'm not even sure how to gauge engagement there. Mastodon feels more like a community. I know they're both evolving, but for those who are trying both, what are your feelings thus far?
@stevesilberman I’m enjoying Mastodon culture despite the peculiarities of its multi-instance structure. I found you here easily enough, but I miss many who haven’t come over. Pet peeve: lots of duplicates when I scan down my home thread. Sometimes it’s users who repost their own work multiple times (looking at you Reuters). Other times it’s people whose best work gets boosted by followers again and again. If there’s a Mastodon-friendly app that prevents this I haven’t found it.

I hear that https://elk.zone is working on fixing that, organizing the timeline into proper threads.
