My only #NewYearResolution will be 'use your stickers', as it has been every year for a long time.

It's not just sticker-specific, but a reminder that leaving the sticker on the sheet does nothing. Choosing something to stick it on means it will bring you joy. Might that joy be impermanent? Yes, but everything has the potential to be impermanent, and what joy is there in leaving the sticker on the sheet?

Burn that nice candle you bought for the smell. Use that bath bomb. Enjoy that snack treat. #UseYourStickers.

@laurenthemself thanks for the reminder. I have a bunch of pokemon stickers given to me by an ex i havent had the heart to use yet.
@LupusAstartis I love Pokémon! Forever a Grass starter, Bulabsaur has my heart. I hope you find a way to use them that doesn't provoke any negative memories.

I'm so bad at this, I hoard and save but never use.

Adding: Write in the fancy bound notebook. Make something from the expensive yards of fabric. Use the luxury souvenir yarn.

@laurenthemself @lj I have so many stickers and no place to put them. I always end up with them not stuck because there’s never an obvious place.

Someone needs to invent sticker boards for walls.

@Aaron @laurenthemself I have a friend who makes cards for folks with all of their stickers.
@Aaron @lj I have some on the whiteboard I use to track writing deadlines, some on my PC tower, some on the wooden case my PC tower lives in so the cats can't shed straight into the computer, and some on my desk (I have a hutch desk). And also on my laptop, of course.
@laurenthemself excellent callout. i have a stockpile i am saving for no obvious reason. i should be enjoying them instead. 🫰
@chrisportela for sure you should! Maybe write a few friends a snail mail letter and decorate them?
@laurenthemself I could cover my whole house with my unused stickers
@atomicbird if you have a flat surface you're not too concerned about marking up, maybe you should go ahead and do it!
@laurenthemself This is a great reminder. Thank you!
@SunnJax You're welcome! also omg that gay sparkle emote is amazing!
@laurenthemself i put up some cork board recently to have a place to put all my stickers & pins. would recommend!
@tasha My pinboards are cloth stretched over embroidery hoops and honestly I might switch to a corkboard so I can add stickers. So many of my pin orders come with stickers!

@laurenthemself I think I've found my word for 2023 #UseYourStickers 😂

The hoard has become quite unmanageable.

@sammie Share the hoard, sticker dragon!

@laurenthemself
My second favorite sticker is here —

https://mordornps.creator-spring.com/listing/mordor-holiday-tee-sale?product=401

My favorite sticker says, “I paid more in taxes than Donald Trump” that I think I got from The Lincoln Project.

I also ensticker my water bottles and electronic doodads with all my favorite nonprofits such as WTA, PCT, and ACLU. #MoreStickers

@ke7yxz That is a GREAT sticker.
@laurenthemself
I bought a photo album and place the stickers in there to look at. Eventually if I find something that suits the sticker I will use the sticker.
@PhilGastwirth Very sensible! My method of having them in a bag under the bed wasn't doing anything for me, that's why I first resolved I was going to start using them.
@laurenthemself
They WERE in a stack in various places, like a pile on my desk, coffee table etc. I had to figure out a solution.
@PhilGastwirth That is absolutely relatable. I'm like that with pins, and I have four pinboards.
@laurenthemself don't save that sweater for a nice 'occassion' - every day is an occassion, wear the sweater! feel good!
@xglossd @laurenthemself also fancy shoes. Life is too short to save the sparkly shoes for a special occasion
@laurenthemself funny enough I actually just ordered some stickers and have been filled with anxiety ever since on what I should stick them on, and will have it till I make the final decision lol
@xan I hope you find joy when you find somewhere to stick them and enjoy looking at them.

@laurenthemself I tell my kids this. Enjoy your stuff, don't waste it, but don't hoard it.

As a kid, I got some fancy oil pastels and they were so nice, I never used them. To this day makes me sad for having missed that chance to use them, and get the most of them.

@m750 Definitely! I was like that with glitter crayons (not as cool as fancy oil pastels).
@laurenthemself I got a sticker book for Xmas and I can't wait to finally apply all my stickers on it!
@laurenthemself this is spot on because I do weirdly stress about using stickers
@ksbex It seems to be something a lot of people are finding relatable.
@laurenthemself Use your stickers. Get tattoos. Stop worrying about what is and isn’t permanent.
@laurenthemself thank you, this is a beautiful sentiment.
@keith A good reminder…I recently found some old candles that had entirely lost their scent after years of disuse.
@laurenthemself So much this. I’m really bad at letting go of temporary things and enjoying them while they last, but I aim to do better.
@laurenthemself I'm 54 years old and I enjoy stickers immensely, as does my wife. We put them on all sorts of different things. I got two old tall gym lockers last year that needed to be painted, but instead I covered them with stickers and they came out awesome!
@Discoduk1968 Ooooh nice! I'd like to plaster mine on my bookshelves, but since my Dad built most of them himself they're actually so nice as they are I can't bring myself to do it.
@laurenthemself
Thank you for reminding me! I still have many googly eyes to use up!

@laurenthemself I second that. Use stuff! Enjoy it. There's no prize for dying with a house full of nice stuff you never used.

I won a box of 12 luxury bath bombs in a raffle earlier this year. I used them within about six weeks. They were lovely.

@beecycling I have had some bath bombs sitting around for quite a while unused, because I had some menstrual dramas involving drawn-out periods that made me not want to sit in a bath (sorry if that's a bit ick), but now I'm safely post-hysterectomy (again, sorry if that's a bit ick) I'm looking forward to being able to sit and soak and fizz!
@laurenthemself thanks for reminding me I have this to stick somewhere
@HeyKatie I like that sticker very much.
@laurenthemself I both agree and don't, I use my stickers in my journal but I also enjoy just looking through the collection periodically... And I miss looking through other kids' sticker collections socially and trading. Us adult sticker people should get together and do that. #StickerTrade ? #SocialStickerCollecting ?
@mayrav I never really did trades as a kid, so it would be fun to try as an adult!
@laurenthemself I would love to, and sadly you and I couldn't be geographically farther apart 😢

@laurenthemself This is a good one. I got quite the hoard when I wanted to do a journal kind of thing, but I never quite managed to figure it out, so both stickers and journal remain unused 😅

So I suppose it is "figure out what to do with the journal" as well.

@paracactus I'd probably use it as a writing exercise to begin with. Put a sticker in the middle of a page and use it as a writing prompt. Write a flash fic in the space around it.
@laurenthemself This sounds fun! I'm not much for prose writing but I could try it with poetry (something I've been wanting to get back into) 🤔
@laurenthemself this is me! Commitment phobic. What if I don’t put it in the right place? You’re right though. Enjoy the nice things. ❤️
@kirsty If you don't put it in the right place, but do put it somewhere, it will at least be somewhere you can look at and enjoy it instead of being unappreciated.
@kirsty also happy new year in case that sounded like I was lecturing you! I just realised it might have sounded that way and I totally didn't mean to!
