I am a largely sedentary person but my eye was caught by this number on my bike.

8661 km cycled since I got it. If I hadn’t had it, they would have been bus or taxi rides.

E-bikes are the magic wand for city traffic and transport.

If I set off from Dublin and cycled 8700k, I’d be in Turkmenistan, which sounds both impressive and also a poor use of my time.

Please be assured that I would very much like to hear about what makes of e-bikes you went for and why. Mine is a Cube from a bunch of years ago.

I bought it (and am very happy with it) because I had no idea what to get and decided that Germans would probably do a good job making things.

@Tupp_ed I'm only riding muscle powered bikes 😅
That is a Raleigh Rushhour 2.0
Giant Propel Advanced (rim brakes)
And a Fixie Inc Floater Race 8S 😁🙏🏻
@Tupp_ed I haven't bought one yet, A Bamboo bike frame with an aftermarket upgrade?
Or the Bolt E-Bike?

@Tupp_ed I'd be interested to know what batteries people's ebikes are using.

Custom form factor, or a "big bag of cans" full of something like 18650 or 21700 cells?

They are probably mostly Li-Ion but there are different chemistries, with different weight/power/safety trade-offs.

eBike batteries: Long range, low weight, easy charging

The high-quality, long-lasting eBike batteries from Bosch have the highest energy density with a small size and light weight. The Bosch PowerTube is fully integrated in the frame. Different capacities offer the right choice for replacement and spare batteries.

Bosch eBike Systems
@Tupp_ed 4 x MomaBikes - price + made in EU + 120km range + built in backer
@DaveCarroll I love the integrated backer
@Tupp_ed Robinette is a Tern Vektron S10. It's foldable, which can be handy on trains etc. I've had him since April and racked up 2,200 km mostly on morning and evening runs.
