@sinabhfuil A lot of pulse oxymeters get a false reading from dark skin, it’s not just Apple. A lot of people with low blood oxygen levels died because of it in the US at the start of the pandemic. It’s still a problem now. The teams developing these technologies often lack POC on them and it never occurs to them to try it out on different skin tones. It’s another effect of systemic racism.

That’s a problem, but it’s not an excuse for Apple. It’s not acceptable for your medical device to now work for a huge population of people just because other devices are broken in a similar way.

(That may not have been your point, but I’ve seen a lot of people making that point and wanted to rebut it just in case)
