Southwest's flight delays & cancellations are beyond unacceptable. This is a company that got a $7 billion taxpayer bailout & will be handing out $428 million in dividends to their wealthy shareholders. @[email protected] must hold Southwest's CEO accountable for his greed and incompetence.

@rbreich Having just stranded something like >1 million paying customers during the holidays in a PR disaster, Southwest's shareholder payout might be taking a hit next year.
@rbreich why do we keep giving "no strings attached" bailouts? They should have serious "strings." It's our (the people) one opportunity to extract some real concessions from an industry that is one of the most customer hostile.
@rbreich
The bigger problem is that the airlines routinely oversell flights, even when they know complete flight crews won't be available to staff the flight so it's the reverse The Producers where no one checks the books when a Broadway show flops, when flights are flown without a hitch no one notices the fraud (other than the handful of customers who get bumped from oversold flight). However when there's cascading failure and more than 100% of capacity get their flight canceled it is apparent
@rbreich are any of these assholes ever held accountable? It's like we've all forgotten businesses are supposed to be managed, customers are supposed to be served, and the point is to provide products and services, not just make a pile of money. We could just GIVE everyone a pile of money if that was the point.
@darwinwoodka @rbreich no, because they've got money, and money buys what's laughingly known as "justice," in this country.
@rbreich Bernie needs to join Mastodon.
@rbreich They might need a rebranding of the slogan. “You’re not-so-free to move about the country.”
@rbreich I am a shareholder but not wealthy, stop overemphasizing and exaggerating to drone on about a point, people should have the right to expect timely delivery of their luggage, labeling working people as rich shareholders is just a stupid inflammatory false statement
@rbreich that's not lump this in as "wealthy shareholders" as you say ... They are not all "bad" realize they include insurance companies who not only support their business but also the pension plans that they have provided, and annuities etc.
