@Patricia As I see it a kitchen got #storages and #surfaces.
Some surfaces you want permanent, and you usually got fairly fixed utensils there. Which depends on what you use the kitchen for. Could be making coffee, baking, playing go, whatever.
Other surfaces are more transient, you need them once in a while, and stow them away at other times (see storages).
Eating surfaces can be persistent and/or transient (e.g. guests), just like cooking/doing surfaces.
@Patricia For #storage, unless you got a truly tiny kitchen (or massive storage needs) you should be fine with the available volume, the issue is just usage/convenience.
Can you easily get what you need when you need it. Where do you place food, waste, utensils? If it is low, how do you lift it up?
Is it high, how do you take it down? Is it deep, how to move in front?
Rotating thing in back corner is golden. Behind space can be used better.
