Glad to see @Gargron turning down VC funding for Mastodon. The #1 thing VCs like to see is rapid growth and that’s the one thing that would kill Mastodon.

I have a better set of interactions here with 5,000 followers than on Twitter with over 100K followers. But I also realize that’s partially due to the niche nature of the service.

The service is also currently not designed for policing that scale of usage.

@carnage4life @Gargron The incentives for VCs are pretty much the opposite of what the fediverse stands for. “Investment” in Mastodon is simply control of the most popular system and service, and IMO shows a lack of understanding by the GPs into what Mastodon really is.
