My rewatch of Blakes7 had reached the end of series 1. Orac has turned up.
A couple of observations.
Every time there is a million to one chance that just might work, it fails, and someone dies
Secondly, Avon... All the fun of an evil mastermind, without actually being evil. Is there any character in sci fi, or elsewhere, quite like him?
#scifi

@HopePhil Alfred Bester from #Babylon5 was close; but then Michael Garibaldi was smart too.

But that's telly sci-fi. The obvious answer, albeit that there are plenty of such anti-heroes, for the vastly larger world of _all_ sci-fi is Slippery Jim DiGriz.

@JdeBP slippery Jim is more a wisecracking antihero. Much more sympathetic than Avon. I mean, I love Jim di Griz, but a very different character

@HopePhil That's because it's comedy, overall. Slippery Jim is still narcissistic and not averse to taking a few things for himself along the way.

@HopePhil Tom Hiddleston’s Loki is the only character that comes close.
Jayne from #Firefly has the self interest but none of the smarts.
Avon one of my all time fave characters. #Blakes7
