I've just checked and it was originally on BBC between 6pm and 7:30pm which is certainly later than I recall! Maybe I did my homework straight away and then watched it which made it seem like it was just after school.
Anyway, it definitely wasn't meant to be a kids' thing although no-one really cared about that sort wank in those days.
