This sculpture, Variance Line, was designed and constructed by the Art and Ecology Program of the University of New Mexico in collaboration with the Sevilleta National Wildlife Refuge.
The 92 circles represent annual rainfall from 1918 to 2018. You can see the diminishing rainfall trend.
I don't know whether the circles are for the local area or for the entire state of New Mexico. Or why there are only 92.
The sculpture is made of rammed earth and steel and was placed at Sevilleta in 2020.
