Are you one of the ones who dropped #Chrome and now using #Vivaldi?

We are all heart-eyed! 😍 #Browsers

Here's a great video from TechGumbo that can be helpful if you are still thinking about it. ⬇️

10 Reasons to QUIT CHROME and USE VIVALDI Instead!

YouTube
@Vivaldi
Yes, I have dropped chrome few years ago. Vivaldi is more versatile and customizable browser than Chrome ever will be.
@johnny What is your favorite feature in Vivaldi?
@Vivaldi
There are a lot of great features. Browser windows splitting, Take a break button, keystrokes customizing, popup command line...
Even new support for Mastodon is great killer feature, pity I'm not using Mastodon tbh... :)
@Vivaldi what is my actual user name? Why am I getting this error when trying to migrate my account?
@BradJFAK As far as I remember you only put the instance name in the account handle and here you only put your username alone. Try typing only BradJFAK, it should work

@Ypsilenna @BradJFAK first you have to create an “alias” on your new account. You have to tell the instance where your new account is located that you want the data of your older account to be moved.

That you find at migrating FROM another account, in settings. There you type your old handle, and only then you put your NEW handle on your OLD account.

Yeah, it’s confusing 😅

@rireveloba @Ypsilenna @BradJFAK

Ypsilenna had it right. There was no need to add the server name at the end. The user name alone worked! Thank you!

@Bradley_JF @Ypsilenna @BradJFAK that’s weird… just yesterday I had to include the instance name as well for it to work.

It’s true that is possible to migrate accounts on the fedi but honestly is quite confusing, and there are not really clear guides

It should start with an @ so it is @ [email protected] without space
@martijnsch the user name alone wound up working. Thank you!
@Vivaldi I might be on the minority when I use Chrome, Firefox and Vivaldi side by side, because I have so much going on that one browser ain't enough😅
@Vivaldi What are the advantages?
@elisboa @Vivaldi You can adapt Vivaldi to your needs and also the interface to your esthetic taste. With other browsers, it is usually the other way around.
@Vivaldi I won't use Vivaldi until the speaker icon on the tabs no longer obscure the favicon.
@Vivaldi Vivaldi and brave are the only 2 browsers with AdBlock built-in, so when manifest v3 I expect a lot of people will switch to you and brave
@TTimothee
Haha, je n'utilise déjà plus beaucoup chrome ^^

@Vivaldi I've switched from Opera to which I've jumpshipped from Chrome which I got when I got dissatisfied with Firefox.

Opera 12 was my favorite in terms of customization but later - from what I remember - they dropped their own engine and picked Chromium engine. And then all the customization that I liked disappeared...

And a few years later I've came across Vivaldi and I've been using it since then.

@Vivaldi Yes, running Vivaldi Desktop as my main browser since version 2.0.
@matsbtegner Oh, thank you for sticking by us for so long!

@Vivaldi Started using Vivaldi under Windows Vista. Now using Vivaldi under Debian 🐧.

 and

@Vivaldi done a long time ago ! :)
@Vivaldi I didn't drop Chrome because I had never used it much. But I am a former Netscape user 😎 And also Firefox from version 1 to 80-something 🙂
@Vivaldi I'm one who did this years ago but I do REALLY wish there was a simple action (like the hard-reload of Chrome in dev mode) to clear the cache on a particular website) I still switch back to Chrome when testing during website development

@Vivaldi is my #1 browser for personal use 😍

I wish use it for work, but there are few bugs in Vivaldi's DevTools stopping me

@html666
@Vivaldi

What kind of bugs? I have to use Vivaldi even for work, because security policies are blocking chrome browser extensions.
@Vivaldi I used to us Vivaldi, quite like it but no iOS was deal breaker. Has that changed? If not are there plans to change?
@kennethbird There are more than plans for it at this point.  We are actively working towards it. No ETA to share yet, but it's only coming closer.
@Vivaldi Excellent news, I look forward to using it!
@Vivaldi I dropped Chrome when I went to try out this browser, since the official download link was on someone's profile on the Steam app. I really enjoy it although I wish the sync was easier to use (something similar to Firefox's would be great)
@Vivaldi for work I stick with Chrome because mandatory. But for personal & family matters I use #VivaldiBrowser
@Vivaldi I dropped Firefox for Vivaldi.
@Vivaldi i droped firefox for Vivaldi on my work machine for now... the main reason is multi row tabs 🙃
@Vivaldi Using it for some times. Changed from Opera GX and previously Chrome.
@Vivaldi Yes, now vivaldi is my browser n°1 on desktop and mobile.
I love is customization (theme, tools, etc.).
@Vivaldi I did because mainline Google Chrome didn't play nice with my Mid 2012 MacBook Pro modded to run big sur.
