“Ah look there’s another idiotic thing Musk has done over on Twitter!”

After a while it gets repetitive

We have ample evidence now he’s not just erratic and unpleasant as CEO but downright dangerous

With Musk in control the place can’t be saved

The main point now: getting people to move en masse - here to Mastodon or indeed to whatever other network(s) make sense. Nothing else makes sense as a reaction

If you care, move

@jon yes the only thing I post on Twitter now are links to Mastodon and things like this:

@Loukas @jon I've only posted my blog posts recently to Twitter. I do not engage to any conversations, I do not use like or retweet, I just post my links and that's it.

For each and every update I post to Twitter I get dozens of "f*ck off" comments and other low-level shite... I feel like Twitter is not worth it for even the littlest amount of posting because of these "reactions". It's like 4chan but worse. Whenever I open Twitter I feel like I'm in the dark web where bad people do whatever they want and say whatever they want. It's a very ominous feeling and I don't like it.

@rolle @jon Jesus how awful

@Loukas Yeah, it really is. The funniest thing is that last post I linked was about Twitter and how its culture and algorithms boost bad behaviour. It's in Finnish (I can link it if you're interested).

The point is, I included the wonderful graph by @tubbdoose to the blog post (image attached). I also clearly stated that the intention of my article is NOT to make people join to Mastodon and in fact it's good that not everyone joins Mastodon.

The reactions under my tweet proof these points 100%. Some people didn't even bother to read my article, but still commented it in a very hostile way.

It's really that bad nowadays...

@jon

@rolle @tubbdoose @jon do you have a lot of followers on Twitter? These days I mostly just feel like no one sees my posts there. Maybe I'm shadow banned or suppressed.
@Loukas I don't know if it's a lot but about 7K (gained over 15 years time period). @tubbdoose @jon
@jon And let's not be fooled the day he installs another CEO, perhaps less erratic, but driven by the same general interest.
@wolfgangcramer Right. That might make things a little less erratic, but not ethically any different.

@jon Keynes: "When the facts change, I change my mind".

The facts about twitter changed a while ago...

@djm_black Right. Totally. We as users haven’t got much option than to simply leave.
@jon
I read several hot takes that his approach is essentially faschistoid. And the more I think about it, the more sense it makes.
@cweickhmann Yes. I don’t know whether he explicitly wants to act that way, or is just a jerk. But the impact is the same I think.
@jon
I think the big difference between Twitter and his other endeavours is the amount if public attention.
I've worked in a place with a few Elon fanbois in the past and if you look at the hailed news about Tesla for instance, he micromanaged the shit out of the company, burned through a bunch of capable managers and installed a sort of sectism. So, I think it's just the way he works. But the same could be said about Hitler 🤷‍♀️
@jon Vibes are similar to Tories. He’s surrounded himself with sycophants. The rumours are that Tesla has people who manage him. Twitter hasn’t got that and so it’s doomed. (My guess is it’ll become another Tumblr. It’ll be sold off for bugger all and will be a husk compared to its former glory. It might then have a resurgence but is unlikely to be at the same level of importance and impact.)
@jon I've started blocking the account that promoted any advert I see over there. What I didn't expect was that the algorithm has learned that I do that, and I now see almost no adverts.
Over here; I'm trying to avoid mentioning the old place and focus on building something new here. It's quite pleasant.
@jon Isn’t destroying Twitter the goal? I’m sure Musks other money backers have made it clear to him. Between Saudi oligarchs and Russian oligarchs, Musk has all the support he needs to help destroy America from within.

@AnnMorris @jon

This is what I believe. From day one he's been destructive. The oligarchy knew what they were doing when they financed him just like when they financed Trump.

@AnnMorris I don't know. We might each have our own theories. But all we can do is take suitable action according to what is going on, and what matches our values.
@jon Social media is mental illness. Musk is merely showing us this, from the cushion of his money.
@jon please write your government officials to do the same.
